For my 66th birthday I did a trip starting in Cambodia through Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia that lasted five months. I first travelled in this region in 1974 so I saw many changes. The most dramatic change was the lack of quietness. Everywhere I went there were power tools and after a while I realised that noise is a kind of status symbol.
